15 Fall Date Ideas in Tampa (2026)

Fall in Tampa might not come with colorful leaves and 50-degree afternoons, but once September rolls around, Tampa Bay starts finding its own way to celebrate the season.

Pumpkin patches pop up around town. Fall festivals take over local farms. Outdoor dining finally becomes enjoyable again. And as we get deeper into October and November, those slightly cooler evenings make us want to spend as much time outside as possible.

So whether you're planning a first date, looking for something different to do with your spouse, or just want an excuse to get out of the house, here are some of our favorite fall date ideas around Tampa Bay for 2026.

1. Spend an Afternoon at Keel Farms | Plant City

Best For: The ultimate Florida fall date

If you're looking for a date that actually feels a little like fall, head east of Tampa to Keel Farms Agrarian at Keel Farms.

Keel Farms is home to a working farm, restaurant, winery, brewery, and cidery, making it easy to spend several hours here.

And during October, it gets even better.

Harvest Days returns every weekend in October 2026 from 10 AM–3 PM. The seasonal event has traditionally included pumpkin activities, hayrides, a corn maze, vendors, food, and plenty of fall photo opportunities.

After exploring the festival, grab something to eat and try a wine, cider, or beer made at the farm.

Date Idea: Go for Harvest Days in the afternoon, stay for dinner, and split a flight of seasonal drinks.

2. Take a Sunset Walk Along the Tampa Riverwalk

Best For: An inexpensive date night

Sometimes the best date nights don't need much planning.

Once Tampa's evenings start cooling down, grab a coffee or dessert and walk the Tampa Riverwalk together.

You can start near Water Works Park and walk south toward Downtown Tampa, or start near Water Street and work your way north.

Stop along the way for dinner or drinks, sit by the river, or simply keep walking.

For an easy dinner-and-walk combination, Ulele sits right along the river near Water Works Park and makes a great starting or ending point.

Date Idea: Have dinner, walk the Riverwalk after sunset, and grab dessert somewhere downtown.

3. Visit a Pumpkin Patch, Without the Kids

Who says pumpkin patches are only for families?

Pick out pumpkins together, wander through a corn maze, take some ridiculously fall-looking photos, and grab cider or something sweet.

A few Tampa Bay-area options to watch in 2026 include:

  • Keel Farms Harvest Days
  • Harvest Holler Corn Maze
  • Hunsader Farms Pumpkin Festival
  • Sweetfields Farm
  • Hyde Park Village Pumpkin Patch
  • HarvestMoon Fun Farm

Several 2026 dates have already been announced, while others are still awaiting their official seasonal schedules, so check before making the drive.

Make it a competition: Each person gets $15–$20 to find the weirdest or best pumpkin.

Winner gets to choose dinner.

4. Do a Hyde Park Village Fall Date

Best For: Coffee + shopping + dinner

Hyde Park Village is one of the easiest places in Tampa to create a date without really having a plan.

Start with coffee, wander through the shops, grab dinner or drinks, and finish with dessert.

During fall, the Village typically adds seasonal decor and programming, and its annual pumpkin patch has traditionally run during October. As of August, the full 2026 pumpkin patch details haven't been announced yet, so keep an eye on the fall calendar.

There's also a built-in date-night option every Friday evening at Color Me Mine, which currently offers BOGO studio fees for couples from 5 PM until close.

Date Idea: Grab coffee → walk the shops → paint pottery together → dinner.

5. Have a Picnic at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park

Best For: A cheap date

Pick up takeout, or pack something from home, and head downtown.

Find a spot overlooking the Hillsborough River at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park and have dinner outside.

Then walk the Riverwalk once the sun starts going down.

It's simple, inexpensive, and much more enjoyable once Florida starts giving us those occasional cooler fall evenings.

Bonus: Check the Tampa Riverwalk event calendar before you go. There are frequently concerts, markets, movies, and other events happening downtown.

6. Spend an Evening at Sparkman Wharf

Best For: Casual date night

If neither of you can decide what you want for dinner, Sparkman Wharf solves the problem.

The waterfront destination has multiple food options, outdoor seating, drinks, and plenty of space to hang out.

Grab food from different places, find somewhere outside to sit, and enjoy the waterfront.

After dinner, walk around Water Street or continue onto the Riverwalk.

And if the date calls for dessert, Hampton Chocolate Factory is right there.

Date Idea: Each person picks something from a different restaurant and you split everything.

7. Go to Oktoberfest Tampa

Best For: A lively fall date

Want something a little more energetic?

Oktoberfest Tampa is scheduled for October 9–11, 2026 at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park.

Expect German food, live music, Bavarian games, beer, lederhosen, dirndls, and waterfront views.

Even if neither of you is particularly into Oktoberfest, the atmosphere makes this a fun excuse to get downtown and do something different.

Date Challenge: You both have to participate in at least one activity you normally wouldn't do.

8. Have Dinner at Armature Works + Walk the River

Best For: An easy last-minute date

One reason we love the Armature Works area is that you don't have to plan much.

Head to Heights Public Market and decide what sounds good once you get there.

Grab dinner, find somewhere outside along the river, and walk the Riverwalk afterward.

If you want something a little more date-night-ish than the food hall, Oak & Ola is also inside Armature Works.

This is especially good during fall when sitting outside by the water finally starts sounding appealing again.

9. Go Apple-Cider-and-Pumpkin-Treat Hunting

Best For: A DIY date

Create your own fall food tour.

Pick three or four Tampa bakeries, coffee shops, or dessert spots offering seasonal menus and order one fall item at each place to split.

Your mission might include finding:

🍎 Apple cider
🎃 Pumpkin bread
☕ Pumpkin coffee
🍩 Apple cider donuts
🥧 Pumpkin pie
🍦 A fall-inspired dessert

Rate everything from 1–10 and crown your official Best Fall Treat in Tampa for 2026.

This one is also perfect for an afternoon date when you don't necessarily want to commit to a full dinner.

10. Take a Sunset Cruise

Best For: A special occasion

Seeing Tampa from the water is completely different from seeing it from land.

Book an evening cruise and watch the skyline light up as the sun goes down.

One option is Craft Tampa, a dining-focused river cruise departing near Sparkman Wharf that combines Tampa waterfront views with a plated meal.

You could also look for sunset sailing trips, water taxis, or other Tampa Bay cruises depending on how casual or romantic you want the night to be.

Fall Bonus: By later in the season, an evening on the water can actually feel pretty comfortable.

11. Have a Spooky Date Night 👻

Best For: Halloween lovers

If you're the couple who starts watching Halloween movies in September, Tampa has plenty of options.

Go to a haunted attraction, take a haunted tour, visit a Halloween event, or make your own spooky night.

One especially Tampa-specific option is the annual UNDead in the Water aboard the American Victory Ship near Channelside. Dates currently announced for 2026 begin September 26 and continue on select nights throughout October.

Another option to watch is Pirate Water Taxi's Haunted River Tours, which typically take place on select October nights.

Then grab drinks afterward and determine which one of you was actually more scared.

12. Go Line Dancing at Keel Farms

Best For: Trying something new together

This one could be hilarious, or you might discover your new favorite date night.

Keel Farms currently offers free line dancing lessons on Thursdays from 7–9 PM, and Country Fridays take place every third Friday from 6–10 PM.

You don't need to know what you're doing.

In fact, it's probably more fun if neither of you does.

Grab dinner beforehand, have a cider or drink, and learn together.

13. Explore Ybor City at Night

Best For: Dinner + drinks + exploring

Instead of choosing one restaurant and calling it a night, make Ybor the date.

Take the TECO Streetcar into Ybor, walk around historic 7th Avenue, grab dinner, stop somewhere else for a cocktail, and finish with dessert or Cuban coffee.

The historic buildings and brick streets make Ybor especially fun around Halloween.

For an extra fall twist, look into one of the neighborhood's ghost tours.

Date Idea: Each person secretly chooses one stop for the night. You don't tell the other person where you're going until you arrive.

14. Plan a Fall Beach Sunset Date

Best For: Remembering you live in Florida

There's something slightly funny about spending the afternoon at a pumpkin patch and watching the sunset at the beach a few hours later.

But that's also one of the perks of living in Tampa Bay.

Pack dinner and head toward Clearwater Beach, Indian Rocks Beach, Pass-a-Grille, or Honeymoon Island.

Fall can be one of our favorite times to do this because you're moving beyond the hottest part of summer while still getting incredible Gulf sunsets.

Bring a blanket, dinner, drinks, and stay until the sun disappears.

Florida Fall Date: Pumpkin patch in the morning. Beach sunset at night.

Try doing that in Ohio in October.

15. Have a Fall Date Night at Home

Not every date needs to involve leaving the house.

Pick a cooler evening, turn off your phones, and create your own fall date night at home.

Make chili or soup together.

Carve pumpkins.

Make caramel apples.

Light a fall candle.

Put a movie on outside.

Build a fire if you have a fire pit.

Or each person picks one fall-inspired cocktail or mocktail to make for the other.

Sometimes the best date night is simply intentionally spending time together without another reservation or event on the calendar.

When Does Fall Actually Start in Tampa?

Technically, fall starts in September.

Weather-wise?

Tampa doesn't always get the memo.

September and much of October can still be hot and humid, which means pumpkin patches may involve shorts, sunscreen, and an iced pumpkin spice latte instead of boots and a sweater.

By late October and November, however, evenings often become much more comfortable for outdoor activities.

That's when outdoor dining, waterfront walks, festivals, picnics, and patio dates really start to shine.

Make a Tampa Fall Date Jar

Want to actually do some of these instead of saving this blog and forgetting about it?

Write your favorites on slips of paper and put them in a jar.

Then, every Friday or Saturday, randomly pick one.

You could include:

  • Pumpkin patch
  • Sunset picnic
  • Riverwalk
  • Try a new restaurant
  • Fall dessert crawl
  • Beach sunset
  • Haunted attraction
  • Farmers market
  • Coffee + Hyde Park
  • Armature Works
  • Outdoor movie
  • Day trip
  • Cook dinner together
  • Brewery or winery
  • Explore a neighborhood you've never visited

The only rule?

Whatever you pull, you have to do.

Fall Is One of the Best Times to Explore Tampa Bay

It's easy to think of Tampa as a summer destination, but locals know how good the area can be once fall arrives.

The crowds start shifting, outdoor events fill the calendar, pumpkin patches open, and eventually we get those first few mornings where you can walk outside without immediately wondering why you chose to live somewhere this hot.

And there are always new places to explore.
