7 Things to Do in Tampa This October 2026

October in Tampa Bay is one of those months where you get a little bit of everything: pumpkin patches and Halloween events, football games, outdoor markets, gorgeous sunsets and, yes, probably still a few days that feel suspiciously like summer.
Whether you live in Tampa Bay, recently moved here, or you're visiting this fall, there are plenty of ways to make the most of October.
Here are 7 things to do in Tampa this October to add to your fall bucket list.
1. Visit a Tampa Bay Pumpkin Patch 🎃
You don't need crisp 50-degree weather to get into the fall spirit. Tampa Bay has plenty of pumpkin patches where you can pick out the perfect pumpkin, snap some fall family photos, and enjoy seasonal activities.
A few local favorites featured in this month's EGG Edit include:
Raprager Family Farms – A popular Tampa-area fall destination with pumpkins and plenty of family-friendly activities.
Sweetfields Farm – Head north of Tampa for a classic farm experience and seasonal fun.
HarvestMoon Fun Farm – Another favorite for families looking for pumpkins and a full day of fall activities.
Many local pumpkin patches offer much more than pumpkins, so look for corn mazes, hayrides, farm animals, food, games and photo opportunities.
Local Tip: October weekends can get busy, so check each farm's schedule and ticket requirements before heading out.
2. Explore a Fall Festival 🍂
Fall festival season is officially here.
Throughout the Tampa Bay area, October brings festivals filled with live music, local vendors, food trucks, corn mazes, seasonal treats and family activities.
You'll find everything from small community festivals to larger weekend events, making this an easy addition to your October plans.
It's also one of our favorite ways to support local businesses while enjoying the slightly cooler Florida weather.
3. Experience Creatures of the Night at ZooTampa 🦁
Looking for Halloween fun that the whole family can enjoy?
Creatures of the Night returns to ZooTampa this October, bringing Halloween-themed entertainment to the zoo. As we put it in The EGG Edit, "goblins of all ages" can get in on the fun.
It's a great option for families who want something festive and Halloween-themed without necessarily going full-on scary.
Make an evening of it and enjoy one of Tampa's best-known attractions with a seasonal twist.
4. Get Spooky at Howl-O-Scream or Halloween Horror Nights 👻
If your idea of Halloween involves more screams than pumpkins, October is your month.
Head to Busch Gardens Tampa Bay for Howl-O-Scream for a night of haunted houses, scare zones and Halloween entertainment.
And if you're up for a drive from Tampa, make a night, or weekend, of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando. Both made our October EGG Edit list for anyone looking for a scarier way to celebrate Halloween.
This one probably isn't for the little ones. Save the pumpkin patch for them. 😉
5. Catch a Tampa Bay Sunset 🌅
Sometimes the best things to do around Tampa are also the simplest.
October evenings are a great excuse to head toward the water, find a spot to sit and watch the sun disappear over the Gulf.
A few ideas for your sunset night:
Clearwater Beach, St. Pete Beach, Pass-a-Grille, Honeymoon Island, Dunedin Causeway or even a waterfront restaurant where you can turn sunset into dinner.
Grab a blanket or beach chairs, pick up dinner from a local spot and make an evening out of it.
No tickets. No itinerary. Just Florida.
6. Go to a Tampa Bay Buccaneers Game 🏈
Football season and fall just belong together, even if you're wearing shorts to the game.
October is a great time to experience a Tampa Bay Buccaneers game at Raymond James Stadium. The atmosphere, pirate ship and cannons make attending a Bucs game an experience even beyond the football itself.
If you're new to Tampa Bay, put attending a home game on your local bucket list at least once.
Fire the cannons!
7. Spend a Morning Shopping Local 🛍️
Finally, slow things down with a Saturday or Sunday morning at one of Tampa's local markets.
October is a great month to browse local vendors, grab coffee, pick up something fresh and explore another part of Tampa Bay.
A few markets highlighted in the October EGG Edit include:
Ybor Saturday Market
Fresh Market at Hyde Park Village
The Market at Water Street
Sunshine Market at Midtown
They're an easy way to turn an ordinary weekend morning into a mini Tampa adventure while supporting local businesses.
Make the Most of October in Tampa Bay
One of the best parts about living in Tampa Bay is that fall looks a little different here.
We might trade changing leaves for palm trees and sweaters for T-shirts, but October still brings plenty of opportunities to get outside, explore our communities and enjoy everything the Tampa area has to offer.
Pick a pumpkin. Visit a festival. Catch a sunset. Cheer on the Bucs. Try somewhere local.
And if you're looking for even more ideas, our October 2026 EGG Edit is packed with local finds, fall fun, places to eat, day trips and Tampa Bay community favorites. The issue is designed around exactly that idea: Live Local. Support Local. Love Where You Live.
