Tampa Fall Day Itinerary: The Perfect Fall Day in Tampa (2026)

Fall in Tampa looks a little different.
Our leaves don't necessarily turn brilliant shades of red and orange, pumpkin spice lattes are still occasionally ordered iced, and there's a good chance you'll be wearing shorts while picking out your Halloween pumpkins.
But that doesn't mean we can't have a perfect fall day.
In fact, October and November are some of our favorite months to explore Tampa Bay. As the humidity starts to ease and cooler mornings make their long-awaited return, it's the perfect excuse to get outside and enjoy everything our area has to offer.
If you're looking for a fun fall weekend, we've put together a Tampa Fall Day Itinerary that combines classic autumn activities, local favorites, delicious food, and a little Florida sunshine.
Grab your favorite fall drink, clear your Saturday, and let's go!
9:00 AM – Start With Coffee and a Fall Treat
Every good fall day should start with coffee.
Before heading out, grab a pumpkin spice latte, cold brew, chai, or whatever seasonal drink you're currently obsessed with.
Add a pumpkin muffin or apple pastry, and you're officially ready for the day.
If you're coming from Wesley Chapel, Lutz, or Land O' Lakes, grab something close to home before making your way east toward Plant City.
Fall day challenge: Try a seasonal drink you've never ordered before.
10:00 AM – Visit a Pumpkin Patch in Plant City
First stop: the pumpkin patch!
Plant City is one of our favorite places near Tampa to experience a little traditional fall atmosphere.
Depending on the weekend and seasonal schedule, local farms such as Fox Squirrel Corn Maze offer classic autumn activities that make you forget, at least temporarily, that you're in Florida.
Think pumpkins, corn mazes, outdoor games, fall treats, and plenty of opportunities for photos.
Spend the morning wandering around, finding the perfect pumpkin, and enjoying a little countryside atmosphere.
Don't forget: Check the farm's current operating dates and admission information before visiting. Many pumpkin patches operate on select fall weekends.
12:30 PM – Explore Historic Downtown Plant City
After the pumpkin patch, head into historic downtown Plant City.
This charming area is worth exploring beyond its famous strawberry season.
Take a stroll, browse local businesses, and find somewhere to grab lunch.
You don't need a packed itinerary here. Part of the fun is slowing down, walking around, and discovering a place you might normally drive right past.
And yes, if you find something strawberry-related for dessert, we're counting that as a perfectly acceptable fall treat.
2:00 PM – Take the Scenic Route Toward Tampa
Now that you've checked off the traditional fall activities, it's time for the Florida portion of our itinerary.
Head back toward Tampa and enjoy the afternoon drive.
If you're in the mood for one more outdoor stop, consider a short nature walk along the way. Otherwise, save your energy for downtown.
This is also a great time to put on your favorite fall playlist and enjoy that rare Florida afternoon when you might actually be able to roll the windows down.
3:30 PM – Walk the Tampa Riverwalk
Now it's time to enjoy one of Tampa's best outdoor attractions.
The Tampa Riverwalk stretches approximately 2.6 miles along the waterfront, connecting parks, museums, restaurants, and downtown attractions.
Start near Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park and take a leisurely walk along the Hillsborough River.
Stop for pictures, find a shady bench, and enjoy the downtown views.
If you're visiting with kids, let them stretch their legs at the park. If you're planning a fall date, this is a great opportunity to slow down and enjoy the afternoon together.
5:00 PM – Grab an Early Dinner at Sparkman Wharf
After a full day of exploring, it's time for food!
Head toward Sparkman Wharf in Tampa's Channel District.
With outdoor dining, an open lawn, and a lively waterfront atmosphere, it's a great place to finish the afternoon.
Grab something to eat, find a spot outside, and enjoy the cooler weather.
Depending on the weekend, you may also catch live music or seasonal activities.
6:30 PM – End Your Fall Day With a Waterfront Sunset
We might not have mountains covered in orange and red leaves, but we do have some pretty incredible sunsets.
Finish your fall day with a walk along the waterfront as the sun goes down.
Check the sunset time for your particular weekend and adjust dinner accordingly.
And if you've got a little energy left, take one last stroll through downtown before heading home.
Want to Make It Even More Fall-Themed?
If you're looking for a few ways to customize your itinerary, consider swapping in one of these activities:
- For families: Add a hayride, pumpkin painting, or extra time at the farm.
- For couples: Turn the day into a fall date with seasonal drinks, pumpkin picking, and waterfront dinner.
- For food lovers: Visit Keel Farms for its Harvest Days festivities and seasonal offerings.
- For nature lovers: Skip downtown and spend your afternoon exploring Hillsborough River State Park instead.
For October 2026, Fox Squirrel Corn Maze is scheduled to operate Saturdays and Sundays through October 25, while Keel Farms has Harvest Days on October weekends. Check each venue's schedule before planning your outing.
What to Bring for Your Tampa Fall Day
Florida fall can still be surprisingly warm, so a little preparation goes a long way.
Bring comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, water, a portable phone charger, and a tote bag for anything you pick up along the way.
And, of course, leave some room in the car for pumpkins!
